CWU NW Region H&S Lead Supports His Wife Raising Funds For Macmillan Cancer Support

Trade Union Safety Reps and Health and Safety Officers within regions play an important role in their communities, and often support one another in doing so.

The CWU North West Region H&S Lead is Mark Holt, who is, along with Jaimie McGovern, runs for the Union's Mental Health Network in the North West. He is not one for taking public plaudits, or for pushing a cause, but quietly provides support for those in need within the workplace and within his community and his larger family.

Supporting mental health comes in many forms, and often both mental health and physical health are entwined, With that understanding one of the key activities many people do is to support charities and especially when they have lost a loved one. It helps to heal the pain and make the loss more bearable, which in turn helps our mental health.

In doing so, she has set up a fund raising page with JustGiving; an organisation that do not charge payment service they provided, so all 100% of donations go to the charity named by those raising funds.

Here is Alison Holt's statement on the Just Giving fund raising page:

"In September 2024, I am taking on a Mighty Hike along the beautiful Northumberland coastline to raise money for people living with cancer.

This is in memory of our beautiful mum Jean, who we lost in May 2023. Our world is not the same without her.

I have pledged to raise £250 and would appreciate any support in reaching this. By fundraising my pledge, I could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs."
